Our History:
JPA Ministries began in the hearts of Nelson and Bethel Consumo in 1997. During a return visit home to the Philippines, they felt “a desolation in the spiritual landscape.”
They came back to Tennessee heavily burdened by the experience and began to pray. After three years, the door was opened in answer to their prayers.
A friend contacted them asking that they return home and help bring the Gospel to the Central Philippines University during observance of Christian Emphasis Week. They returned to the Philippines, accompanied by a group from their church, and conducted a pastor/layman’s conference. Over 1000 attended. During that visit the door opened to go into elementary schools. At each meeting, students and faculty, by the hundreds, come forward for salvation.
Nelson and Bethel felt called to continue the work the Lord had started, hence Jireh Phil-Am Ministry was birthed. Over the following years JPA Ministries, with the help of churches in the USA, renovated 5 churches, and built 2 new churches. JPA has been involved with several other ministry projects, such as feeding of the children at a large daycare center, and in 2011 JPA held a second Pastors Conference.
Ongoing ministries include:
• Support of 21 pastors and church workers on a regular basis
• Provides building materials for new church growth.
• A ‘pig and chicken project’ to provide not only food, but a source of ongoing income.
Over the following years God brought other like-minded servants to join the JPA Ministry:
Jack and Marpet Funderburk, JD and Sue McCann, who along with Nelson and Bethel have become the Board of Directors.
In October 2012 JPA Ministries called Executive Director, Bryan Creswell, and opened office space in Knoxville.
In November 2012 JPA held its first “Friends Dinner” to officially introduce the staff and ministry of JPA, and begin to gather those who will pray, give, and go with, JPA.
Plans for the future include:
• Preparation of staff, both in the USA and the Philippines, to use/teach training materials from the Bible Training Centre for Pastors
• Medical Mission team to Iloilo and Bacolod in July 2013
• Pastors conference in Iloilo and Bacolod in 2013
• Renovate Caingin Beach Mission House for ministry use
